Hamilton Football defeated by Holland Christian

Updated: Nov 18, 2021

As the regular OK blue conference football season comes to a close Hamilton hosts Holland Christian on their field for the second to last game of the season. Hamilton and Holland Christian have seen each other as rivals for many years and every time they match up against each other it is always an interesting game. Friday night brought a lot of nerves and excitement to the Hamilton stadium as both teams kept the score very close the whole game.

Hamilton kicked the game off with Spencer VandenBrink scoring the first touchdown quickly taking control of the game and giving momentum to the team. Holland Christian followed, scoring their first points of the game shortly after. Seniors Spencer VandenBrink, Quentin Soerens, and Zach Boerman had an amazing game working together to get a total of 234 of the 270 yards gained in the rushing offense. Both teams worked hard in keeping the score close the whole game resulting in the game going into overtime. Holland Christian won the coin toss choosing to try their luck in offense first. They took advantage of their possessions and scored, giving them the lead. Fortunately for Hamilton they failed to gain any extra points after the touchdown. Then it was Hamilton's turn to try and win the game. Because Holland Christian was unable to gain any extra points all Hamilton had to do was score and then kick it and they would take the win, however, things didn’t go as well for Hamilton. On the fourth down Hamilton had the ball on the one yard line and fumbled it resulting in the Maroons recovering the ball. Hamilton lost the game ending with a score of 21-27. With Holland Christian winning the game they knocked the Hawkeyes out of their chance at continuing to the playoffs. Hamilton looks forward to their chance at revenge when they play each other next year.
